Starting out at university?
Get going with a NatWest Student Account
If you’re beginning a new life at university, you’ll need to think about a bank account. Why not open a NatWest Student Account? It’s a useful mix of services and advice that will help you get your money sorted, so you can make the most of your new-found freedom as a student.
Sticking to a budget at university is rarely easy. If you think you might need some extra flexibility, why not talk to us about arranging an interest-free overdraft? It’s good to know you’ve got a bit more room to make ends meet.
You can apply for an interest-free overdraft facility of up to £1,250 in your first year. And you can apply for increased amounts each year until you complete your studies. If you need a different amount from those shown in the table below, speak to us to see how we can help.

Our Student Advisers are here to help
When you’re studying, there’s a lot more going out of your account than the rent. You’ll probably have fees and books to pay for. Then there’s food and clothes. And you’ll need a bit left over for going out.
If you haven’t had much experience of managing your own money and you need some help on how to make your cash go further, you can talk to our Student Advisers. You’ll find them in NatWest branches on or near your campus. They can show you how to budget for all the necessities of student life.
